Advocacy & Government Relations

The Oakville Chamber of Commerce is committed to advocating on behalf of its membership to all levels of government – municipal, provincial, and federal. It is due to our strong, non-partisan relationships with political leaders that we are able to engage the business and political communities in constructive dialogue. Government officials from all levels, representing all political parties, speak regularly at Chamber events that range from roundtable discussions with ministers to high profile luncheons with party leaders. The Oakville Chamber’s Government Relations and Advocacy committee plays an integral role in helping determine relevant issues and how to act on them. It is made up of 20 professionals (including Chamber staff) that represent a cross-section of Oakville industry and professional experience. They are truly committed to creating an economic environment where Oakville businesses can thrive. In addition, the Oakville Chamber is a part of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce – a network that represents 60,000 members ranging from small businesses to major corporations and industry associations. Through the Ontario Chamber, we collectively propose and advocate for solutions to foster the growth of Ontario businesses and create jobs in the province. The Ontario Chamber Network has achieved meaningful advocacy wins on behalf of Ontario’s employer community. Here is a snapshot of the most recent progress we’ve made:
