Volunteer Profile

Duncan McLeod

As the eldest of four children, it’s easy to assume that Duncan’s exceptional discipline comes from being the first child, traditionally the most conservative in a family line-up. But that was never the case with Duncan. “I’m a lefty,” he says with a grin, “a true contrarian. Tell me I can’t do something and I’ll definitely prove otherwise!”
Duncan’s strong sense of self proved invaluable when his great-aunt’s generosity made it possible for him to attend both Ashbury and Upper Canada Colleges for grades 8-12. “I actually thrived in the regimentation, but I felt as though I didn’t fit in,” he remembers. “So I made a name for myself in hockey and football and worked hard to earn the top form prize.”

After receiving his BA in history and political science from York University, Duncan entered the real estate industry as an appraiser. He quickly moved up to selling commercial properties and went on to become Area Manager at Royal LePage in Burlington, where he was responsible for 90 sales reps as well as a marketing department and in-house mortgage broker. Later he became Executive National Director with JJBN, administering the affiliated offices across Canada. With his wife, Sherry, he joined a successful business called SupperWorks that offers an alternative to fast food for working parents by providing healthy, delicious meals.

The same dedication, discipline and drive that have brought Duncan success throughout his life are now the foundation of his career as a residential real estate broker. Duncan works very closely with every one of his clients to help them make the most of their home sale or purchase, providing them with the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions. Deeply dedicated to ongoing communication and follow-up, Duncan not only provides frequent updates but also enables his clients to anticipate each step, making the process both smooth and stress-free. The same will to achieve that fuels Duncan’s success on the golf course brings him new clients every day. With his sharp focus, business savvy and careful attention to detail, he’s quickly earned a reputation as a Broker who can be truly relied upon to cover every step of the real estate process.

“A big part of my success stems from my involvement with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce” says Duncan. When I decided to make the move from commercial to residential real estate and work in the Oakville community, the best advice I received from a colleague (former Chamber President) was to connect with the Chamber and join a committee. Naturally I joined the Golf Committee and recently moved over to Boost Your Business. It was the best thing I could have done to re-launch my sales career. I have met many interesting people and developed numerous business relationships. Having been involved in other Chambers and Boards of Trade, what I like best about the OCC is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that permeates throughout all the events I attend.”
