The Executive Committee is comprised of directors who set the agenda for the Oakville Chamber of Commerce Board. They make recommendations to the Board regarding policy and strategic initiatives. They may also act in place of the Board. The structure and mandate of this committee is specified in the Chamber bylaws. It is composed of the Chair, Chair-elect, Secretary, Treasurer and may include one or more Vice Chairs. Members of the Executive Committee are selected and approved by the Board of Directors.
The Nominating Committee reports to the Chamber’s Board of Directors. They interview and recommend nominees to sit on the Board. As well, they submit an annual report to the Board recommending Officers for the upcoming Chamber year. The structure and mandate of this committee is specified in the Chamber bylaws.
Government Relations and Advocacy Committee
The Government Relations & Advocacy Committee is primarily responsible for researching, reviewing and making recommendations to the Board of Directors with regard to government policy, legislation or proposed legislation. The committee regularly hosts government staff and elected officials to discuss issues related to the Chamber’s members and the business community in general.
This committee plans and implements the annual golf event—the Chamber’s biggest fundraiser In addition to the event itself, committee members solicit event partnerships, revenues, prizes and volunteers.
Small Business Week Committee
The Oakville Chamber of Commerce is a proud sponsor of BDC Small Business Week™ which takes place every October. For 35 years, the Business Development Bank of Canada has been organizing BDC Small Business Week™ in recognition of the contributions and achievements of Canada’s entrepreneurs. The Oakville Chamber of Commerce holds events during the week to bring entrepreneurs together at a kickoff breakfast, lunch & learn, and tradeshow. The Small Business Week Committee plans and implements the events for the week, as well as plan lunch and learn workshops throughout the year.
The Marketing Committee is primarily responsible for researching, reviewing, and making recommendations to the Oakville Chamber of Commerce on branding and marketing initiatives that are aligned with the Chamber’s vision and mission.
Good Morning Oakville Committee
The Oakville Chamber of Commerce hosts a monthly networking breakfast called Good Morning Oakville presented by Intelligent Office Oakville. The committee members meet regularly to plan the breakfasts and actively participate in every Good Morning Oakville by welcoming guests, making introductions at the podium, kicking off the networking session, and leading the prize giveaways.
Young Professionals and Entrepreneur Group (YPEG) Committee
The Young Professionals & Entrepreneur Group is a forum to engage young professionals and entrepreneurs through connection, collaboration and learning opportunities that enhance and support the Oakville business community. The committee members meet monthly to plan events, discuss branding initiatives, and select key speakers.
